Reflexology by Julia Medhurst…

Based in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire

A holistic complementary therapy, reflexology aims to treat the person as a whole, stimulating your body’s own healing processes, boosting circulation and helping you to return to a natural state of balance and wellbeing.

Reflexology is based on the theory that areas of the body are mirrored in the feet or hands. Nerves ending in the feet correspond to other parts of the body, and by stimulating with gentle massage and pressure, the benefits are felt throughout the body.

The effects of long term stress on the body from today’s busy life can have a detrimental effect on our long term health and wellbeing. Reflexology can help the body to cope with the effects of stress through relaxation, to restore and maintain the body’s natural equilibrium.

Reflexology is suitable for all ages and may help to bring relief from a wide range of chronic and acute conditions. However, Reflexology should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice. Many people find that once they have completed their course of treatments, it is beneficial to continue with regular treatments to maintain their health and general well-being.

Every person is unique and so are the individuals’ responses to reflexology. One person may respond immediately, another may not notice a response until they have had a few treatments. Most people report a sense of feeling revitalised and a sense of wellbeing. Sometimes people feel lethargic, sleepy or even nauseous. This shows the body is responding to the treatment and is a temporary phase of the body’s positive healing process.

I have used complementary therapies for many years and have found great benefit and comfort in Reflexology.
